What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy works within a collaborative relationship between the client and the therapist. This involves careful thought and reflection on each person’s situation.

Many of us experience difficulties which result in just coping with life and feeling on edge as opposed to, or different from, experiencing quality of life and being able to enjoy life. Psychotherapy provides the opportunity to understand how these difficulties have arisen, how to understand the present impact, and how to proceed into the future in a more satisfying way. This involves developing insight into oneself and one’s behaviour.
With understanding and awareness comes the freedom to create and choose a more fulfilling experience of life.

The effects of psychotherapy can be profound and transformative. Whilst each person is unique, there are many common threads in what clients report. Some of these include feeling increasingly able to go beyond merely coping with life’s complexities, increased capacity for joy and pleasure, richer personal relationships, more satisfying interpersonal relationships including professional relationships, increased clarity about life’s hopes and goals and increased optimism about how these might be further achieved.
